Dr. Bernice

At age 3, I joined my SOS family and began kindergarten that September. Though the first week was difficult, care and support helped me adapt quickly. Step by step, I pursued my education with confidence, eventually earning a degree in general medicine. Now a dedicated doctor, I aspire to specialize in Psychiatry. The strong bonds and encouragement throughout my childhood shaped me into who I am today.

Raphaël

At 17, SOS Children's Vilages helped me strengthen my skills after I left school due to difficult living conditions. I trained in the bakery trade and received support to grow my capital. Today, I run a business at Kiremba market in Muyinga, earning about 800,000 Burundian francs (around $270) monthly. I contribute to my family’s expenses while saving for the future. My goal is to establish a bakery in my village and invest in modern equipment to expand and diversify my products.

Elysée’

I began my journey with SOS Children’s Villages in Burundi in 1997 at age four. The support and stability I found in SOS children's villages Bujumbura gave me confidence and determination to pursue my education. With this strong foundation, I earned a degree in Statistics in 2019 and later advanced to a Master’s programme to deepen my expertise. Today, I work as a Data Analyst in a pharmaceutical laboratory, proud of my path and grateful for the encouragement that helped me grow into my strongest self.

Willy

I joined the SOS Children’s Villages through its family strengthening programme in Bujumbura in 2007. With their support, I stayed committed to my studies and graduated in 2021 with a degree in Computer Maintenance and Networks. I later built skills in printing, photography, and videography, eventually starting my own business. Today, I’m financially independent and able to support my family, grateful for the stability and confidence the program helped me build.
