Education Programme:

Delivering Quality Education and Real Opportunities for Children

The Education (EDU) programme of SOS Children’s Villages in Burundi provides quality, inclusive, and child‑centred education across its intervention areas, including Bujumbura, Cibitoke, Gitega, Muyinga and Rutana, while also strengthening education systems within surrounding communities.

SOS Children’s Villages schools consistently demonstrate strong academic performance, with high pass rates in national examinations, reaching up to 100% success in key grades and notable achievements at both provincial and national levels. Beyond academics, schools promote sports, culture, digital learning, and child protection, ensuring a well‑rounded educational experience.

Through partnerships with public and community schools, the EDU programme enhances teaching quality, strengthens school management, expands access to ICT, and promotes children’s rights and protection. Teachers, school leaders, and students benefit from capacity building, coaching, shared learning, and exam preparation support.

By combining direct education services with community‑based support, the EDU programme contributes to improved learning outcomes, safer learning environments, and increased access to quality education, empowering children and young people to succeed in school and beyond.
